We offer a complete service to construct bespoke garden outbuildings - whether its a home office or gym, man/lady cave, a new porch or just a high quality shed we can do it all from start to finish with no need to employ separate contractors.

Below is an example of how we would construct a garden outbuilding but as every building is bespoke, different construction methods can be used to suit each individual application.

Stage 1 - Ground preparation:
Depending on the type of building that is required and other factors such as weight loading, access to the site and the type of ground, we would usually excavate the ground and do any necessary shuttering or preparation ready for a concrete or timber base.

Stage 2 - Installing the base:

Again depending on the ground level we would usually either fill the base with a 100 - 150mm layer of concrete with reinforcement mesh, or build a timber frame using 6x2 timbers held up on posts. also this stage we would fit weed suppresent matting and a damp proof membrane.

Stage 3 - Building the uprights:

Lay in a course of blocks if using a concrete base or a timber base plate then build it up out of 3x2 timbers at 400mm centres with mulitiple rows of noggins.

Stage 4 - Installing the roof timbers:

Constructed out of 6x2 timbers at 400mm centres with noggins all overhanging to allow for soffits and fascias, timber firrings installed on top of 6x2s to give the roof a run off for rainwater.

Stage 5 - Boarding out

Board out the roof using 18mm plywood and then board out the outsides of the uprights with 11mm osb ply.

Stage 6 - Fitting the roof covering:

Install a rubber roof with a manufactures guarantee of 25 years which is glued to the plywood with trims and up stands to the edges. (This helps keep the height of the building down)

Stage 7 - Felting and battening:

Install breather felt on to the ply and then fit battens on top of it for the cladding to fix on to and to leave a gap for air circulation, at around this stage the electricians would start first fixing if required.

Stage 8 - Doors and windows fitted:

Installation of the doors and the windows.

Stage 9 - Fitting the cladding:

Installing the cladding on to the battens, softwood or hardwood (cedar is shown in the picture), soffits and fascia also installed.

Stage 10 - Internal works:

Fitting of 18mm ply to the floor, insulating, plaster boarding etc.

Stage 11 - Finishing touches:

Electrician 2nd fix, guttering, Decorations, floor coverings, decking/paving, furniture etc.
